Theme

One Summer Night text and picture theme.

How does it fit?

When I heard the theme I immediately thought of all the summer nights of driving through backroads around my neighborhood. The picture theme from @xin_cere.art made me think of a specific location off of the real life Cherry Hill Road in Virginia. Some of the best hidden locations are found by turning your engine and driving.

Narrative

I wish we had more time to incorporate this narrative more into the music but I will explain the story as intended. The story follows a group of bored teenagers in 2000. Their favorite game that summer is Cherry Hill, a PS2 style retro drift racer. They often listen to the OST while racing or hanging around their favorite 'tracks' which are just backroads around their neighborhood. At the end of summer they lose one of their friends because they crash and wrap around a tree. The road is closed, and summer ends. I want this album to feel more like the emotions of experiencing your best summer ever through the lens of a favorite game and how one mistake can forever change your connection with old memories. Exploring ideas of melancholic nostalgia and how perception dictates our relationship with media.

Track Descriptions

GrossTech - On The Attack: The main menu loop for the game. This song plays when you boot up the game and over looped video of simulated. It gets you pumped up to begin racing.

GrossTech - Radial Piston Boogie: The first time your tires hit the road. Super bouncy and a bit less serious as this race is your tutorial.

GrossTech x Scarly - Gear Lash: You are starting to get the hang of your vehicle. Maybe it's time to try manual transmission?

Scarly - Foreign Car Foreign Language: It's getting interesting as you start racing new people from all over the place. Are you ready to take on the challenge?

Scarly - Garage but House: You've come a long way and are in dire need of maintenance and upgrades. This track serves as the main theme for the garage.

Scarly - Styling On 'Em: Nothing else matters now. It's just you, your wheels, and the road. Style on everybody as you speed through the final race.
